i've just been real into satan lately

i've been listening to a lot of what i guess you could call a new wave of doom metal.

things like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=am2fcSNTWOs

and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4C1yzZa9Dc

and i've been reading mark twain's letters from the earth.

all of which have contributed a little to this comic, at least in tone. satan has always been and always will be the funniest character of all time. and the most horrifying and interesting. i've always held a special place for him in my heart, and yet it took me 9 nine months of making this comic for him to show up. i guess i just was wanted to make sure i did it right. no need to rush satan.

i'm still reading a lot of robert e howard's conan short stories, so there's still a lot of "sword & sorcery" style bear comics on the way. the ones with the bearded bear and the axe.

it's safe to say that you can tell what music and books i've been into based on the action comics.

ALSO. in case you're not the type to google translate the satanic prayer from teh comic, it roughly translates from latin as:

"satan, prince of the earth. your penis is great."

bear shirts - "free, but donations are lovely"

i'll be mailing bear shirts to anyone who lives far away from me very soon.

and i haven't gotten the shirts to anyone who lives close to me yet, anyway.

but basically this is the deal:

it's awkward for me to take $$$ from people

especially when i feel like i want people to wear the shirts more than people actually want them.

so we're gonna do this thing as "free, but donations are lovely"

if you live far away, i'll have to pay shipping. so you will give me money next time you see me @nathan

if you're one of the people who "pre-ordered" (promised me money before i got the shirts in) feel free to give me $0.00

the shirts are my gift to people for actually being interested at all.

it's been really fun making the comics and the shirts.

thanks everyone for looking at my things!

These Bears t-shirts

bear battleaxe design from this comic.

i'm selling them for $6 each, which is the exact amount i paid for them. but honestly, anywhere between $4-$10 is acceptable.

i would really like to break even... but i'm more interested in spreading bear joy.

i am open to haggling or trading of goods and other services.

there aren't many of these. only about 17 left. but depending on how many go i might make more.

oh yeah, and the sizes are adult S, M, L, and XL. no junior sizes for alaine.

frazetta part 1.5

here's the first layer of color, before any shadow or effects.

not much point in posting this after the fact... other than to show the progression. this is how a standard bear comic would be colored.

it almost makes me want to spend hours adding shadow and effects to every comic. but then i remember that i have other things i'm supposed to do with my life.

frazetta part 2

okay, so i may have skipped a few steps and gone straight to the part where this thing is almost done.

i just couldn't stop adding layers to it. i like it enough as it is to just stop here... but everytime i add more i like it more. so i think alaine is gonna add some textures to it tomorrow. she knows some photoshop tricks that i don't and has convinced me she can make it look more like a canvas painting. thanks boo. wow it's after 12:30am i really need to go to bed. shouldn't have had coffee at 10.

frazetta

so, i'm making this frank frazetta painting into bears. this is the first scan in a series of scans that i'll do as this thing progresses and i add stuff to it; more layers and colors than the comics. just trying something else with the bears other than the usual.

so far it's super fun. maybe i'll do more famous painting adaptations in the future.
